Miss Maddy turns 2

$

I know I have been a little lazy on the Blogger front at the moment but there is a good reason behind it :0)

My youngest little cherub shall be turning 2 on the 18th and we are trying to figure out what to buy her as well as organising a little (which is never little with our huge families) get together at our local hotel. We shall be putting on a nice dinner, so I have been stressing out with RSVP's and all that jazz.

And now I am focusing on her cake which I will be decorating all by myself... I don't know how well it will turn out but I will be sure to upload photos as soon as it is complete and ready to go.

But I shall be back in action and on top of all my review ASAP, don't get me wrong I am still posting but not as much as normal!!

Apocalips Lip Lacquer Review

Apocalips Lip Lacquer
Apocalips Lip Lacquer $15.95
each are available 1st July 2013 from Priceline, Priceline Pharmacy, Target, Kmart, BIG W, selected pharmacies and selected Coles and Woolworths.

Now just when I thought it could not get any better, I found a lipstick with a gloss shine that actually does last and even outlast some of my long wear lippies.
New APOCALIPS Lip Lacquercombines the best of both worlds, with its ground-breaking formula a luscious liquid packed with pure colour pigments for rich colour, phenomenal shine and supreme comfort that lasts all day. The lip lacquer formula gives your lips colour so strong and bold that your pout is bound to make an impact!

You would think that when you wear this lipstick your lips would be really sticky and just not nice, but in fact it is the total opposite leaving them lips nice and silky. I am not the one to lie you will still get your hair stuck on your pout, that is why whenever I wear I lipstick or gloss that isn’t dry or matte I go for a pretty up-do; saves my hair from wearing the same colour as my lips.

I absolutely adore Rimmel’sNEW applicator which has a nifty inbuilt micro- reservoir glides on easily and evenly, leaving your lips feeling beautifully coloured and moisturised hour after hour. Which is basically a little whole at the end of the brush you pop on your lips, which hold more product in it which means no need to double dip to get that colour anymore.

The packaging of APOCALIPS Lip Lacqueris equally explosive. With its spectacular jagged edges and dramatic black colour code, it looks futuristic and is made to stand out. To me the end almost looks like a diamond cut shape or some seriously steep mountain peaks :0)  All the more so since one end of the pack is transparent and appears to glow like molten lava as it reveals the shade inside, which has an amazing effect when taking photos as you can see.

Talking of shades, there are 8 spectacular ones to choose from and I was a SUPER, super lucky beauty to be able to get my hands on the ENTIRE collection (I know right, I almost died and went to heaven when the arrived on my doorstep.)
But with saying that I will be no help at all deciding on which colour you should choose, or which I though was best as I just LOVE them all and have worn every single one of them. Not one of these colour is bleh or average, Rimmel has been very smart in selecting some shades that really go with everyone’s taste. I would suck at being in the Rimmel lab trying to narrow down zillions of shade to 8 Ohff I am already having heart palpitations just thinking about it.
If you own one you are going to want to own the lot!!!

John Frieda Luxurious Volume

$

0

I have been loving this season to just wear my hair natural, and with little done to it.  I think with Winter I like to give my hair a rest from all the heat and curling irons etc, so like to fully hydrate it and bring it back to life.

Sometimes I like to mix it up a little though and love a high volume fresh clean look, and to achieve this I use some awesome products from John Frieda.

Gently cleanses for volume that looks and feels natural.
Patented formula contains specialized volume building technology paired with cleansing agents. The formula gently cleanses and detangles fine hair as it applies volume boosters, then rinses clean. Volume boosting technology is activated during blow dry to enhance hair’s natural volume, for hair that feels naturally full and soft.
Available in:
250 ml

Both the shampoo and conditioner have a light fresh, clean smell to them. It is not an overpowering smell but it is pleasant. When I wash my hair I like something that gives my hair that strong scent that when I move my head and my hair moves I get a whaft.
My hair does get great hydration and also volume from this product except the only downside is it gets really frizzy. The frizz doesn’t bother me though when I am straightening my hair as you cannot even tell. I think I will save this mix for whenever I want to straighten my hair. If anybody has been reading my blog then they would know that I always swap and change my shampoo and conditioner and never stick to just the one. I find my hair copes so much better with variety and thanks me for it in the long run, and these days there are so many different ones that serve different purposes.

Enhanced formula contains a targeted lifting complex that combines a triple polymer system to boost hair from the roots and thicken strands, for natural-looking and natural-feeling volume that lasts. Contains heat protection polymer and Panthenol, known to protect and strengthen hair.
Available in:
177 ml

Now this is the product I love most of all I was sent from John Frieda. When you read it on paper (or computer screen) you would think it’s a squeeze or pump bottle that you just rub into your hands and apply to your roots. But it is far from that,  it is actually in a nifty little spray bottle that you just spray directly on to your roots. The smell is exactly the same as the shampoo and conditioner so there is no clash what so ever.
I have not used another volumizing lotion that actually works and does its job. It does make your roots a little stiff but I think this is what makes the product work and give you volume.
One day last week I did not have the time wash and blow dry my hair so I applied straight to my dry roots and it worked an absolute treat!! I will have to pack this with me on my trip to Queensland, and the way I am going I will have to have a whole suitcase just for toiletries and makeup haha.

RiRi M.A.C Summer Collection

Miss RiRi you have made me extremely HAPPii, and this range has really struck a cord with my heartstrings. I love Rihanna and her feistiness, and for her to collaborate with M.A.C has made me one happy girl. This is more than summer love. Rihanna and M·A·C strike a chord with an online-exclusive colour collection created by the global superstar. Bronze and cool coral combine for a Powder Blush Duo in the unforgettable Hibiscus Kiss, while Retro Matte Lipsticks in RiRi Boy, Heaux and the instant classic RiRi Woo make a statement against sheer, shimmering skin highlighted with rose gold Lustre Drops. Exclusively online.

LIPSTICK $36.00 AUD

RiRi Woo matte cool red (retro matte)

RiRi Boy matte vivid lavender (retro matte)
Heaux matte berry (retro matte)

I was sent the RiRi Woo and I am almost to afraid to even use it and wreck the flawless finish on the stick. It even has RiRi’s signature on the actual lipstick and will make sure I never use it down to the signature haha. This is the best red I have ever owned or even seen on the shelves. M.A.Ccosmetics are so freaking amazing and just keep getting better and better and making collaborations with some fabulous artists. But this one (so far) is my favourite collab and just adore it. Another thing I love about this lippy is its long wearing powers that just last and last and last on your lips, and there is no shine at all. The retro mattes have an amazing formula and I just loorrvvve it. I feel like I am just blabbing on as this line seriously has made me speechless, almost like what would happen if I were to meet Channing Tatum haha. Blabbering mess needs to stop, pull yourself together, after all it is ONLY a lipstick :-P

POWDER BLUSH DUO   $45.00 AUD

Hibiscus Kiss cool coral blush and matte neutral bronze duo

I was also sent this amazing blush, and to be honest I felt extremely guilty as soon as the blush brush hit the pan. I quickly lifted it up to see if I had rubbed away any on RiRi’s signature, but you couldn’t even tell I touched it that’s how well pressed it is J
I love this duo and they are both colours I adore, and mix so perfectly together. I use the cool coral blush first and then the bronzer after wards in a rounded e shape near my eyes.
You know what after receiving this products and being a complete babbling mess I am on a mission to find at least ONE product from M.A.CI don’t like, as I seem to love everything from them.

LUSTRE DROP
 $40.00 AUD
Barbados Girl rose gold bronzer Suggested Retail Price $40.00 AUD

It is great that M.A.C have not gone overboard with their collaboration products either and just made a number of products, in this case there are 5 limited products. So you don’t need to completely break the bank to make the entire RiRi collection yours.
Available Australia June 20, 2013 at www.maccosmetics.com.auor you can always ring 1800 613 828 to find somewhere near you that sell these.

My review of Disney On Ice- Princesses and Heroes

$

The skaters in Disney On Ice make skating look like it is sinch… But then I remember going a few weeks back to an ice centre here in Melbourne only to find my butt saw more ice then my skates. The cartwheels, flips and turns are just amazing. This year I only saw one mistake, and that was just a shipmen stacking it but quickly picked himself up and went on with the show. You can barely tell if they make a mistake anyway as they continue doing what they do best.
I remember going to a show one year and Tinkerbell took a huge stack and the whole crowd gasped and just waited for her to get up. She got up after a few seconds and then went to the back where I think somebody took over until she pulled herself together.

This year’s Princesses and Heroes show was the best by far and had many surprises in it. We watched as Minnie, Mickey and Tinkerbell worked their magic and led us on a tour of all the magical princesses and heroes. Some were more well known as others, as I heard mums around me say “who’s that?” But the kids would quickly fix that up telling them who they were.
There was one part there when the wicked witch came out and both my girls clung to me for dear life, there was even a few tears shed as she was pretty mean and scary. Then of course there was this fierce fire breathing dragon, but luckily we were saved by the very handsome Prince.

When taking Madison to shows, being only 2 she gets bored easy and very restless. But to my surprise she sat there on her chair like a good girl and just watched the entire show like a good girl.

The only negative I would say there is, is if your planning on buying some merchandise for your kids you are really going to have to hack at the bank account. I just bought the girls to frozen drinks in Disney cups and a program and spent over $50.. Some of the prices of the products are very high and maybe a little over priced in my opinion, but then again aren’t they all at these shows. I think the only show I went to that had well priced merchandise was Legally Blonde.

Both of the girl’s favourite parts where when they went under the sea and the bubbles fell from the roof. The girls were sitting there trying to catch them and my little one (Mads) was pretending to blow bubbles.

No matter where you sit at Hisense arena you will always get a good view and won’t miss one part of the show. I think even right up the back in the lowest price range you would be able to see the entire show, I love Hisense.

We were also very lucky to be able to go to a VIP meet and greet where we met Snow White and one of the dwarfs. But by this stage my girls were over tired grumpy and the tears were flowing. We did get a photo but it was more of a tired “Im over this” kind of photo. I felt a little special there though as we were surrounded by star and famous people such as Billy Slater, Cameron Smith, Matthew Llyod and so many more.

I would highly recommend this show to any parent or family out there, it is loads of fun.

Elmo's World Tour

$

Round the world with alpha magic, well take a trip that geographic. Along with Elmo and some of his close friends we traveled to different countries on this planet Earth to help find Abby Cadabby’s first favourite wand.

Abby Cadabby makes magic and alphabet letters appear from the letter box..  There's one problem her second ever wand is broken hence the reason for travelling to Australia to try and found her first ever wand.  But with the letter mix-ups this gives the friends a chance to find countries starting with the letter Abby magically brings out of the box.
On the stage we met all our favourite Sesame Street characters, which included:
Elmo
Abby Cadabby
Zoey
Grover  (and super grover)
Big bird
We also got to meet some of the other Sesame Street furry friends, in their bathroom we were surprisingly greeted by Bert, Ernie and of course rubber ducky. They receive a postcard from their friends who have just visited Zambia. The audience was also showered with pretty popping bubbles, this was a great effect that really got all the children up and wanting to catch them.
Then we met Count Dracula and his bats in his scary dark castle. Drac taught us how to count and sang us some pretty cool songs.
We also got to meet my favourite cookie monster, but he created a little bit of trouble.  C is for cookie was meant to be for China, but they couldn't head there cause Cookie Monster ate it :-) but Abby makes some magic to get cookie another C as he got quite upset that friends couldn't travel to a place on the globe starting with C.  But first Abby needs to practice her magic to make it happen. With a wave of her wand and a big poof... There appeared a letter O.. But cookie takes a closer looks only to take a big bite out of the side to create a letter C :-) But Cookie Monster being Cookie could not help himself and ate it all up on the way to China!! Sounds a little bit like a big cookie monster in my house named Matthew that magically makes the cookies from the pantry disappear.

When the team travelled to different countries they learnt how to say “Hello”  as well as some of the things the do and eat in the countries. The countries covered by Elmo and his friends were:
F-France (bonjour)
Z-Zambia (bwanji)
I-India (namastē- pronounced namastay)
C-China (ni3 hao3 pronounced Nee how)
A- AUSTRALIA  where we say G’Day
Then of course Elmo and his friends bump into Lady Baabaa- (sheep traveller) from Australia (G'day.) I think this is meant to be a funny character like Lady GaGa and even sings like her with her BaBa GaGa business. Lady BaaBaa is a traveller and ready to go home so Abby tries her magic for a letter A for Abby and for Australia.  And she does it first shot, the friends get super excited as they will be able to find Abby Cadabby’s first ever wand. So off they sent to the world down under, and met and sang some Aussie songs.

And of course the show concluded back at Elmo’s home; Sesame Street.
While waiting at the merchandise stand I did notice on the TV they mention Discount Parking at Parkade Secure Parking which I had no idea about. But you will never be short of parking around there and if you’re willing to pay $10-$20 you will find parking within minutes walking distance.
Now talking about merchandise, it is really inexpensive and very well priced. We bought Madison a Elmo T-Shirt, a program and even a show bag packed with Elmo and friends goodies; All of that for $50!!!!
This link above you can find tickets in a State near you.

Im not quite sure who enjoyed the show more, Miss Madison or us big parents :0) I loved the show and I even caught Matt singing a few songs.

Some Smooth Swatching

I have compiled a whole heap of must have products and their swatches. You will or would have already seen these products on my Instagram. I love makeup/cosmetics and would love your suggestions as to what I HAVE to try :-)

LIPS

Curtis Collection Luxury Mineral Lip Mousse RRP $30.00
Now this is basically what it says, and I was a little bit puzzled also as I have never
heard of a mousse for lips. But it is just like the mousse dessert you would have after dinner texture wise, only this is for your lips and not very edible at all. The colour I received was Toffee, which is a lovely shade of brown and has a lot of shimmer to it. This lip mousse also lasts a long time on the lips no matter how many times I puckered up. http://www.curtiscollection.com.au

L’Oréal Paris Infallible 2-Step Longwear Lipstick RRP $29.95
As soon as this product hit my lips I have not been able to stop telling people about it. The compliments never stop rolling in, and it is mainly when I am eating. So many women and even a couple of the boys have asked how the heck does my lipstick not get on my food, or come off as a matter of fact. And I simply say, “One word, Infallible.” I do get a weird look, but then after explaining they understand and a couple have even gone on to buy a few of their own shades. If I had the money again I would own every single one of these shades and wear nothing other them. But I cant be selfish and need to try all the products on the shelves and explore a little. But yeah, if you are after a VERY longwearing lippie THIS IS IT!!! http://www.lorealparis.com.au

Maybelline Colorsensational Vivids Lipstick RRP $15.95
My two fav shades from this line are the 902 Fuchsia Flash which is an amazing bright pink colour and one I know will be seen a whole heap in Spring and when the weather
warms up. I know I love wearing this shade no matter the rain as it brightens up my look a whole heap. Then there is also 914 Vibrant Mandarin, the name pretty much lets you know this babes colour; a bright colour popping orange. Again this is another colour you will see this Spring and I just looorrve it. Plus I really love the packaging of these and always crack a smile when I see the shiny red tube at the bottom of my bag. http://www.maybelline.com.au

Vani-T Mineral Colour Stick RRP $42.95
Well I had to include the lovely Vani-T in my swatching post as their products are all amazing and all natural. I love ALL of there products and it is hard to narrow it down to just one. But the reason for popping the colour stick in there is it is multi-purpose and can be used on your lips, eyes and even cheeks. I love this stick and makes so much more room in the makeup case, its great. If you don’t love this product I think there may be something wrong with you in the beauty department. http://www.vani-t.com.au

EYES

Lush Eyeliner RRP $24.95
I absolutely adorable Lush’s Eyeliner packaging. I almost feel like I should be wearing a white lab coat and rubber gloves. Its super cute and really does look like a dropper, but
is far from one and is a really nice fine liner applicator. The two shades that are my favourite are Independent which is a must have for every makeup collection being a dark blue almost black liner and goes with any other eye colour or even alone.
Then there is also Quietly Motivated, which is a dark gold and is ace for my gold smokey eye look. It just frames my eyes nicely and is the perfect finish to the smokey eye. http://www.lush.com.au

Maybelline ColorTattoo by eyestudio RRP $11.95
I am truly in love with the ColorTattoo’s and they make an amazing longwearing eye makeup. When I use these shadows I don’t even have to apply a primer or anything to
my eyes which I think is fantastic. My two shades that I think you will see a lot of in Spring are the 05 Too cool- which is a stunning white colour. I adore this colour and love mixing it up with other shades to create my own colours. And the second is 40 Tenacious Teal, which is a Teal Blue colour. It doesn’t look to good in the tub, but once it is on your eyes it looks completely different and a really pretty colour. http://www.maybelline.com.au

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eyeshadow RRP $19.95
Now these are my ALL TIME FAVOURITE shadows in the entire world. Nothing compares to the colour these babies give, not even my $80 odd dollar shadows compare. And I am making it my life mission to get all of their shades and make them ALL mine. My three favourite shades are Hourglass Beige, which I use on my entire lid and mix it up with a lovely bronze or gold. You can never go wrong with a neutral eyeshadow… but then again I have seen some pretty bad neutral looks. Then there is Flashback Silver, which is stunning bling filled silver. This is the densest silver shadow I have been able to find and fell in love as soon as I saw them. You don’t need loads of shadow on your eye to make it work either a little goes a loooooong way. Then lastly there is the Endless Chocolat, which I pair along with the Hourglass Beige to create my favourite smokey gold eyes. It really is classy and creates a two toned sophisticated look. http://www.lorealparis.com.au

Eles Signature Shadow Quad RRP $99.00
This is the trends Maverick quad and one that I know is a must have in my makeup
bag in my handbag. It has all the colours I love and ones I like to use together to create a lovely smokey eye. I am more then happy to give a how to on my smokey eye using this quad :0) And I will more then likely post on anyway. The colour stays put and looks amazing on camera as well.  Eles never ever lets me down and I will continue to us their mineral make up as my skin LOVES it. I could sleep with it on (SHRIEK) and still not get a breakout. http://www.elescosmetics.com/boutique/Signature-Quad.html

FACE
Vani-T $40.95
I have to pop this one in here, as I absolutely LOVE this packaging more then any
other makeup item I own yet. It actually pairs with their beautiful lipsticks and just adds bling to your makeup case (or draws in my case.) The blush itself is really lovely and I love to use this as it brings a sparkle to my cheeks. I would be happy to spend double the amount of cash for this blush, as it is perfect. http://www.vani-t.com.au

Curtis Collection Baked Blush- Goddess Collection RRP $35.00
I am a sucker for pink blush, I love my cheeks to look like I am a tiny bit flustered but
not like I have been sitting in the sauna for an hour; and this blush is just perfect. I usually get a little funny with blush as I have breakout issues on my cheeks and they just don’t like to be suffocated by some products but I do love this one a lot. http://www.curtiscollection.com.au

Eles Mineral Blush RRP $39.50
This is like satin for your cheeks and is just perfect, and loves the camera as well. You can barely tell you are wearing anything when this is applied to my cheeks.  The shade I was sent was the Coral Sun and will be absolutely perfect for the Spring Time looks. When I use this shadow my face is given the really vintage dolly look. http://www.elescosmetics.com/

Nvey eco Powder Blush RRP $29.95
Well I love a good bronzer like blush and that is exactly what 951 by nvey eco is. For me this is like a blush and a bronzer mixed together, quite a lovely pink/brown colour. This is one of my favourite blushes and I have never got to the bottom of the tin when it comes to blush but I know I will with this. http://www.nveyeco.com/products.php?product=POWDER-BLUSH

NAILS

Pretty Woman Nail Pearls RRP: $9.99
These are like super cute hundreds and thousands for your nails. I love these so much, although they do not last very long on this mummies nails. They tend to come off at the tips of your nails super quick but there isn’t much you can do about it either. I don’t think I would have the patients to do my entire hand like this, instead I just pick a main nail (usually my ring finger) and have the pearls on that. www.thebeautyoffice.com.au

OPI Nails RRP $19.95
Of course I have to pop some OPI in there as there polishes are always favourite with a lot of people. It was really hard to narrow this down to just the two shades but here are two I think you will see a lot of in the warmer weather (which is soo close now.)
The first is and oldie but a goodie and it’s CAN’T FIND MY CZECHBOOK. This shade is a lovely blue, and one I often wear and love. I actually wear it every weekend when heading to the footy as I love to match my nails to where I am going. Going for North Melbourne it is only fitting to wear blue.
The second polish is a brand NEW release from OPI and it is INNIE MINNIE MIGHTIE BOW. This is a luscious amazing red with a little shimmer through it. Although I am not sure if its my nails or something but it didn’t last as long as all the other OPU formulas I have used. But I LOVE this red and LOVE Minnie Mouse so it works for me. http://www.opi.net.au

ELES Nail Polish RRP $20
Well this one was a late-comer, but was so good I just had to include it. The formula is unlike any I have used before and really does last a long time. These three colours are from the Masquerade Collection and I wish I could show you all of them but I’ve popped two in. I will be making a post with the entire collection, but here’s two I love. Veronese Orchid, which is a light lilac purple. Then there’s also Nude Contessa, which is by far my favourite shade of polish right now and I have found it hard to get it off my nails.http://www.elescosmetics.com

ORLY Nail polish RRP $18.95
Well I know this may be a little late but this is certainly Great Gatsby themed and is classy with a twist. I have LOADS of favourites from ORLY but to narrow it downed we focused on a little theme and came up with ORLY Glitz, which is a gold thick formula which I really do love both alone and on top of different colours. It’s not glitter but more of a shimmer. Then there’s also Flagstone Rush, which is a rusty lovely colour. I love teaming this up with a few brown shades and will be trying it with an ombre nail in a few weeks. I wish I could add loads more here but that wouldn’t be very fair, as I love ORLY very much. http://www.orlybeauty.com.au

This is our Number one product so far for QLD

$

Now we are heading to QLD in October and have been thinking of things to take to make life a little bit easier for a travelling young family. For starters from Melbourne the flight is over 2 hours long and I think we would struggle to keep the little one under control if we don’t take something to entertain her, heck she might even find a way to open the exit hatch. But today my partner and I went out and bought the girls and Ipad and also Ipad Mini. We decided for our youngest the normal iPad would suit her best as she can see the screen a lot better etc. So this is where the problem laid… Finding something that would keep it safe and save it from any accidental drops. Then we were sent this for review:

goPal iPad Travel Case
RRP- $34.99
Whether you are at home or on the go, your iPad can provide hours of fun for your little learners. Help keep it protected* from knocks, bumps and drops with the GoPal iPad Travel Case. Durable, lightweight and easy to clean, this soft foam case gives your kids a clear view of the screen and a steady grip as they play. The adjustable stand tilts to provide the perfect position at the table or for baby’s tummy time. And when it’s time to go, just flip up the stand for a comfort grip handle that little hands can carry with ease. Your iPad is too fun to keep to yourself, and this cute, kid-friendly case lets you share it worry free.
Soft foam construction can help protect* from bumps and drops
Unique multi-position handle and stand for easel and portrait mode positions
Durable, lightweight design and comfort grip handle is easy to carry and clean
Fits all generations of iPads (except mini)
   Fun for kids and adults
Access to controls, buttons, ports** and cameras

Not only does this cover keep the iPad safe it also comes in handy in so many ways. It is great because there is a really handy arm at the back that easily folds up or down or in the middle, however you want to have it to be honest. And this feature allows you to be able to sit it in an upright position so the kids can sit there and play or watch. But when the arms are folded down they make for great handles on each side so your kids can walk around with a good grip. My daughter who is only two actually pulls the bar up and then pops it over her arm and wears the iPad like a handbag when she walks around, it is quite funny to watch.  But I found another use for the handle and one I think almost every parent will appreciate. I pop the handle up to halfway and then slip it over my headrest and pop my daughters shows on, so it doubles as a little TV screen in the car that really keeps her quite and stops her from turning them off (as she just cant reach.)

The iPad did get dropped and my heart sunk.. But instead of a massive thud it was just a quite plonk kind of noise, the outer foam type material really does cushion your iPad keeping it very safe.  Another great thing about the foam is when you pop the iPad in there it is very snug and don’t think your kids will find it easy to get the cover off, both my partner and I struggled to get it off.

I cant wait for them to make a case like this for the mini, as I think we will need it. Even though my daughter is 5 she can sometimes be a little bit careless (as I am sure most kids can be) and I don’t let her walk around with it. Even I like this case as it makes typing so much easier, as I lift the arm and rest it on my legs. My wrists don't even get sore like they do without the case which is a massive bonus.

This product will certainly be on its way to QLD in October and I am sure will become a lifesaver, more then once.

Christmas In July at Sovereign Hill

$

We arrived to Sovereign Hill and were greeted by the lovely staff only to be told our pram with the new breed on wheelbarrows haha. I also noticed on our way up there that you could actually hire Sovereign Hill’s own prams for only $5.00, which I think is handy to know.

The main reason we headed all the way up there was for Christmas In July and the snow. I had been to Sovereign Hill not that long ago, and boy oh boy Christmas In July totally made over the old town. Driving to Sovereign Hill is a bit of a drive, taking us 1hr 30mins to get there but was very scenic.

There was pretty pine Christmas Trees all decorated throughout the old school down, as well as a wreath hanging on each door. I cannot believe how pretty it was and how much a little decoration could change the town. The moment we were waiting for happened; snow in Ballarat. Outside of the Victorian Theatre they have snow fall from the sky three times a day (11:30, 1:30 and 3:30) I loved it and so did the kids, they had an absolute ball trying to catch the snow, which is actually a really light foam. I like the fact that it is a foam that just looks like snow as it is easy to wipe off and away and doesn’t make you more cold then this Winter does.

Speaking about Winter I was surprised at how good the weather was for us on a Winter’s day, there was sunshine and my daughter was warm enough to take her coat off. I could not believe how inviting Ballarat was with their weather and I will be heading back there to see what else they have to offer.

The only thing that was upsetting having little ones is the fact that we couldn't go down into the mines, as your not aloud to have little ones down there. But I wouldn't take them down there anyway as it will be quite dark and scary for them. But apart from that with children there is still loads of things to do.

Now you cannot leave Sovereign Hill without buying something from the main town strip. Whether it is candles, food, jams, lollies and so much more. I would seriously travel all the way up to Ballarat just for the Sovereign Hill boiled lollies and their Tomato Chutney (but I am so upset that I did not buy any.) Once I was in the car I remembered about it, and got quite upset.

There is so many hours of fun to be had at Sovereign Hill, we panned for gold right at the end and actually found about 6 specks, which Hayley was extremely proud of. We could have stayed there for so long and just kept panning away under the Winter sun. There were tonnes of kids there but you can easily sneak into the river to have a pan, although waiting up at the shop for a panning license or a little gold jar can take quite a while. Our family was given a massive shock when the police man let of his gun to warn all the gold miners that they better have their gold license to pan, which only costs $1 at the shop and then $2 for the little jar to pop your panned gold in. Then Hayley went into the candle works and dip dyed her very own candle, which is now going on the dinner table.  We had an old school bowl at the bowling alley found at the back of the town. I could just go on and on with all the things we did but I will let you have the fun and leave some surprises.

There is always loads of parking, and if you can’t get one in the main car park you can always find one across the road at the Gold Museum. Actually with the Gold Museum, when you buy a ticket into Sovereign Hill you get entry into the Gold Museum which is very interesting and informative. Below is a price list where you will see the prices of entry. I think they are very affordable considering the entertainment that awaits you when you step back in time and enter Sovereign Hill.

I would also like to add that Sovereign Hill is totally wheelchair friendly, so that any family member in a wheelchair can enjoy what Sovereign Hill has to offer.

Man of Steel Eau de Toilette Review

Man of Steel Eau de Toilette RRP $19.95

- Available in BigW, Target, Woolworths and selected Pharmacies

The Super Hero who has been inspiring audiences worldwide since 1938 is the inspiration for this fragrance, which is seemingly weightless and formulated to offer unmatched confidence to the wearer without compromising on stamina.
The fragrance suggests empowerment, masculinity and understated attraction. “Man of Steel” is water- based, with heady notes of mandarin, bergamot and neroli, and toned with rosemary, nasturtium, jasmine and sea notes and has base notes of Moroccan cedar, sensual patchouli, white musk and amber. Very Masculine and also an amazing smell that I just can't get enough of, I am sure this is one of the best male scents I have smelt so far.

Flying onto Australian screens on June 27th, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, comes “Man of Steel,” under the direction of Zack Snyder (“300,” “Watchmen) and starring Henry Cavill (“Immortals,” TV’s “The Tudors”) in the role of Clark Kent/Superman, based on the legendary DC Comics Super Hero.

About the fragrance:

If this is what Henry Cavill smells like, then no wonder this man has ladies drooling over him. I could only imagine this fragrance on him, but for now I love the smell when applied to my partner.  This smell reminds me so much of Gorgio Armani or something along them lines, with a fraction of the costs.

I have never been interested in ANY of the Superman’s or anything like that, but having won a competition not that long ago that gave me a double pass I have been intrigued, Flying onto Australian screens on June 27th, from Warner Bros.
We also attended my amazing Melbourne Storm’s Man Of Steel match where they wore the Superman Guernseys.

I could not believe the price tag that was on this Eau de Toilette considering how expensive it smells and also how long the fragrance lasts. Usually you can tell straight away when somebody walks past with a cheap perfume on and it makes me cringe. But I actually LOVE with Matt sprays this on, and often when I am just at home I will spray it on myself so I can continue to smell. Matt isn’t a clingy person and he wouldn’t allow me to hang off him so I can smell the Eau de Toilette for long enough haha.

Two thumbs up from me, and everyone I have shown also agree the bottle is SUPER hehe.

Napisan Oxi Action Powder Review

Trust Pink. Forget Stains
Vanish Napisan Inwash & Soaker Oxiaction Intelligence 1kg

$8.91 on Woolworths shop online page.

Have you ever had a stain on your clothes that you can't seem to remove? Don't fear! Vanish Napisan Oxi Action Powder contains Oxi Powerlift which help removes most types of stains, even tough dried in ones. Vanish Napisan Oxi Action Powder is safe to use on both coloured and white clothing for Amazing Stain Removal First Time. Add this stain removal powder to all your washes with your regular detergent.

The pink packaging is the first thing that gets my attention when I am out shopping add a bit on glamour to the laundry isle at Coles and Woolworths. I don’t usually buy this product unless it is on sale as I find the price a little steep.
With saying that though, you pay for what you get and this product actually does work.
Sometimes I add a little water and work it into a paste then brush it on thickly on them super stubborn stains and leave them over night. This trick works every time and I honestly have never had a stain I haven’t been able to remove.  But I take action as soon as there is a stain, I cant stand watching a stain sitting there on my kids or myself and know that if I leave it, it will more then likely stay there.

But when using this with my whites I have never seen them so bright and light. You can also use this product in either hot or cold, but I have found it works best in a cold wash. I have heard somewhere if you use hot water it tends to lock in the stain to the fabric rather then removing it. For example when it comes to stain removal, the other night I was drinking a glass of wine and my two year old jumped on me spilling it all over my white t-shirt. I was devastated as I have had this top since I was like 14 or something so I quickly threw it in the wash with some Vanish and prayed for the best.  And of course as I thought the Vanish removed the red wine stain without a trouble in the world.

Now I have jumped on the site I have seen that Vanish have gel powershots… Oh em gee I need to try these babies and make them mine.

Vanish stain remover TIP straight from their site
Our top how to remove stain tip is not to let the stain dry. The longer the stain stays, the harder it will be to remove. Did you know you can treat and leave a stain with Vanish Preen Direct for up to 7 days?

I could be here all day naming all the stains this product can remove, but that would just be silly. If you are fed up with stains then Vanish is certainly worth a shot, and you will see you can Vanish Stains from your life forever.

Hot Shoe Shuffle, the Tap Musical opened inBrisbane in May to rave reviews and a standing ovation at every performance and opens in Sydney on July 5 before moving to Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre on August 9 to complete the 2013 Australian Tour. Hot Shoe Shuffle is one musical that is not to be missed, and is one that you will want to see again and again. Having said that I think this is a show I would be silly to miss. Recently I have been invited to many products shows, and live events and have been loving them very much. I think the I found love for broadway and live shows was at Jersey Boys 3 years ago or something. My partner surprised me for my birthday by putting me up in the Hilton and taking me out for a night to watch Jersey Boys. I loved every moment and have only wanted to go to every single show that comes out now.

Featuring the big band hits of the 1940s, Hot Shoe Shuffle has won numerous awards and been produced in six different countries.  It played sell- out seasons in London, where the production won the prestigious Lawrence Olivier Award for Choreography.

It has also won an ARIA Award for its soundtrack album, 4 Mo Awards, 2 Green Room Awards, and an Advance Australia Award for services to the Arts.  After its award-winning season on London’s West End, Hot Shoe Shufflebroke box office records on the UK’s regional touring circuit, where it toured for two years.

Heinz Baby Basics Twist Soft Tip Spoons Review

Heinz Baby Basics BPA Free Twist Soft Tip Spoons
3pk (RRP $5.99)

If only I had found these earlier on in both my kids life, it would have made a massive difference and feeding time on the go so much more easier. I love using the food pouches and even bought a kit where you could make your own, the only pain was trying to get the stuff on the spoon cleanly (that’s if I remembered a spoon.) Usually I would just have the kids suck the puree straight out of the pack, but my daughter has gone funny with certain things in her mouth and just gags. So when these spoons arrived I thought I would try her with the pouches again only this time I popped them on the spoon, she devoured the pouch and wanted more.
Spoon-feeding is an exciting time for parents as they get to watch their baby develop and grow. The recommended time to start experimenting with solids and feeding with a spoon is from 4 6 months old.

The BPA Free Twist Soft Tip Spoons help babies develop and progress to the next stage of feeding. Carefully sized and specially designed to ‘twist’ directly onto babies favourite food pouch, the food pouch can be gently squeezed onto the spoon tip perfect for busy parents on the go. It fits on all HeinzBaby Food Pouches, and other major brand food pouches.

I do love these very much and will continue to use these on the rest of my family to come. I use this with the pureed fruit all the time with the girls now, even my four year old still loves apple puree and loves the novelty of this spoon.

Heinz Baby Basics®‘Soft Twist Top Spoon Tips 3pk’ can be purchased NOW at Coles, Big W, Toys R Us and selected Pharmacies.

JEANS FOR GENES DAY – FRIDAY 2nd AUGUST

On Friday August 2nd 2013, workplaces, schools and streets everywhere will be awash with denim in a united stance against childhood disease.
Jeans for Genes Day is more than an excuse to wear your favourite pair of jeans; it’s an initiative to raise much-needed funds for children’s medical research.
Having two children now it means more then anything to donate to charity that is child based. After all they deserve a fair go at life, I have been able to live mine and they should not be stripped of that right. I will be donating as much as I can to this as I know if my kids were sick or needed the testing I would hope it would be available to them.

Established in 1994 and in it’s 20th year, Jeans for Genes® proudly supports Children’s Medical Research Institute (CMRI), a pioneer in the field of paediatric medical research.
Each year, thousands of Australians take part in this iconic event in support of CMRI. Established in 1957, CMRI’s work aims to improve and extend the lives of children everywhere. This leading institute’s primary focus is on understanding genes, which are the building blocks of life. Currently, one in twenty children is born with a birth defect or genetic disease. Funds raised through the Jeans for Genes Day campaign will directly fund CMRI research.
Merchandise can be found at supporting retailers and workplaces across the country helping to raise much needed funds and awareness for the Children’s Medical Research Institute.
Every dollar raised for Jeans for Genes Day will help bring tomorrow’s treatments and cures closer - so get involved in 2013! Make a difference and Register for Jeans for Genes day.
When seeing some of these products at the counters and didn’t think to much but then when I read these little facts, I realised just how much my dollar can be stretched.
1 in 20 kids is born in Australia with a genetic disease or birth defect.
$2 will buy enough crucial enzymes to test the blood of one patient for aggressive types of cancers
$5 buys a plastic '96-in-one' test tube to screen 96 potential epilepsy drugs at once
$10 gives scientists 200 mini test tubes to help discover genes that cause blindness in children. CMRI scientists have already discovered 12.
$1000 helps CMRI scientist test a new drug to treat cancer, epilepsy, or other neurological conditions

WIN a Family Pass to Dora's Pirate Adventure the LIVE show

If only I recorded my daughters face when I told her she was going to Dora and would be given the chance to meet her it would have made for a perfect post. For anybody that doesn’t know my family we have been through our fair share of Dora. Hayley who is now 5 went through her stage and obsession with Dora and In the Night Garden. But nothing compared to Madison and her love for that little Spanish girl and her back back.

For a while there we were actually scared that Madison’s first words would actually be in Spanish as she watched her Dora so much. Whenever we got home it was “Dee, Dee, Dee (dora)”
So when we heard about the show we all said we will definitely have to take Miss Madison to this show, and I even saw a big smile on Hayley's face. To be completely honest I don't think September could come any faster!

I Can't Get Enough of Aztec

$

Lady Jayne has taken inspiration straight from Australian and international runways, by re-inventing their hair essentials and adding fashion forward products such as Pony Cuffs and Hair Ties to create their new Aztec Collection.
With bold, bright, Aztec inspired prints and tribal inspired motifs the range is right on trend and in keeping with the fast fashion looks this collection is only available for a limited time.
When my eyes spotted this new collection in my inbox I knew I had to get my hands on them. And when my samples arrived at the front door I was like a little schoolgirl jumping up and down with a tiny little squeal I pulled myself together (barely.)

Aztec Hair Ties $7.99
Knotted hair ties care for your hair, as they don’t have damaging metal edges that snag. The new colours and prints are perfect for adding a finishing touch to an ordinary ponytail or bun.
Now I totally love these ties and they have such a boho look to them. 6 days out of the week my hair is either up in a pony or in a bun on top of my head so hair ties are my best friend. These are thick and quite large so it makes for a perfect bun tie and doesn’t rip my hair to shreds. Gosh I can’t believe how Lady Jayne just keeps getting better and better.
Aztec Hair Elastic Ball $9.99

Add a splash of colour with Lady Jaynes’ Aztec Elastic Ball. It includes 40 snag-less elastics in authentic Aztec colours.
I remember in my teen years we used to get a smaller ball like a tennis ball or ping-pong ball and start wrapping and twisting our hair ties around it until we got a huge elastic hair tie ball. But this is like the new age product and is more of a hair tie disk.  I know the description says 40 but on the pack it says there is actually 54 in there, but I don’t know what to believe, either way it is a lot. I might actually count them and get back to you haha. I love ANY hair tie that does not have a metal strip on it so that it doesn’t snap and cut my hair unnecessarily.
Aztec Headband $7.99
Lady Jaynes’ Aztec Headband adds
a pop of colour to your hairstyle – brightening any dull outfit! The braided Headband gently holds hair in place without pulling or snagging the hair.
Mmm now I am not much of a headband person, as I don’t like how bare it leaves my face and how flat my head looks haha. But this one has actually grown on me and will come in handy when we head to QLD in October when I am constantly on the beach and not wanting to get my hair wet or damaged. You can keep the bands close together so that it looks like one large plait or you can separate them so it looks like two plaits.
Aztec Travel Brush $9.99

The Lady Jayne Aztec Travel Brush has a compact, fold-up design with firm ball-tipped nylon bristles.
It fits conveniently into a handbag and features a mirror to make touch-ups easy wherever you are.

Again I will be taking this product with me to Queensland as it takes up little room in my suitcase and can even be taken in my handbag really. But until then this does live in my handbag and comes in handy during the day, both with my kids and myself. I love the colours of this entire range, and really is the best Aztec hair range I have found (and pretty much the only one.) I think this Summer you will loads and loads of Aztec and it will be a really fashionable print and design.

Geleez Series 1 Glow Scene Studio won 2012 ATA Craft Activity Toy of the Year.

I love a product that will keep my girls happy for hours, but not only that it decorates the girl’s windows. A bonus to Moose’s Geleez is the fact that it will not break the budget and cost you a fortune. You can pick up one of the packs for a mere $10.

I received The Geleez Foils Designer Studio, and is a great improvement from the first ever Geleez to come out. They have come a long way and I do remember making some of the first ever Geleez with my daughter which was just the stickers and the gel to decorate with.

The foil designer studio comes with 4 paints, 6 sticker sheets, 1
desk set (which is basically a small kids work bench), 1 Marbling tool, 6 plastic pieces and of course instructions to help you learn how to create your own Geleez.

This will not be the last kit we get as my daughter loves them so much and it keeps her quite. Not to mention this Winter hasn’t been to friendly with us weather wise, so giving her something to do inside has been great.

Every time she brings a friend over she HAS to show them her window of all the creations mummy and her have made and popped up there.

One Lucky Mummy or Daddy out there can get their hands on a kit like this one above. All you have to do is leave your email below in the comments section for your chance to win :-)

Competition Ends 16th August 2013
One Entry per house please.

Slava's Snowshow Review

$
0
0

Last night I was taken away into a mystical world that you could only dream of, and that place was The multi award-winning international sensation SLAVA’S SNOWSHOW.

I was luckily enough to be apart of the opening night and experience what Slava’s Snowshow had to offer and so much more.

The first thing I would say Is I know it does advertise it is for kids, but if I took my 5 year old daughter she would have been scared out of her skin! And I think this show is best suited for children 14 and above… The first scene opens up with the main clown walking slowly onto the stage with a noose in hand ready to hang himself, but luckily he doesn’t!

Slava Polunin created his Snowshow following his sensational performance as part of Cirque du Soleil’s Alegria, drawing on the influence of artists such as Charlie Chaplin, Marcel Marceau and Leonid Engibarov.  He and his company of clowns have taken clowning out of the world of circus, and brought it into the theatre.  SLAVA’S SNOWSHOW is a fusion of traditional and contemporary theatrical clowning arts, and a beautifully crafted visual spectacle.

There is no real story line to this show, so I wouldn’t sit there like I did trying to piece it together or anything, rather just sit back and enjoy the show. The clowning arts is really well done, but then the lighting and effects are even better.

I did not know how I would honestly cope with this show as I have quite a phobia of clowns, and at some points I did pop my hands up to my eyes and try to hide! And when the little mushroom clowns came up into the audience and stopped right in front of me and touched me it did make my scream and turn to run... But there was no escape for me so I had to face my fears and in the end they ended up being cute little fellas.

The show brilliantly creates a world of wonderment and fantasy that transports the audience to a joyous dream-like place, where a bed becomes a boat in a storm-tossed sea; a woman is wrapped in cellophane and becomes flowers in a vase; a child walks in amazement inside a bubble; SLAVA boards a train and then becomes the train, his chimney-pot hat billowing smoke; and a web of unspun cotton envelopes the audience. The stunning finale sees a letter turn into snowflakes, and the flakes turn into a snowstorm, which whirls around the auditorium, leaving the audience ankle-deep in snow. Now this for me was my favourite part (the finale.)
I was left picking up the tissue paper(snow) that was left at my feet and throwing it up in the air above my partners head like a little kid haha. Then after the snow had falled massive giant balloons were thrown around the theatre and bringing the little children out in all of us.
Here you can see My Mr Matt having fun in the snow.

For me this show was certainly a standing ovation and I did enjoy it quite a bit..
